In addition to religious worship and education, membership at Sinai Temple provides many opportunities to meet in small groups. Here's a sampling of opportunities available to the Sinai Temple Jewish community.
CHAVURAH
The word Chavurah (Chavurot is plural) comes from the Hebrew word Chaver, meaning friend. A Chavurah is a group of 10 – 12 singles, couples or families who get together on a regular basis to participate in a variety of programs that are initiated by the Chavurah members. The goal of the Chavurah program is for members of the Temple to feel connected to others. Joining a Chavurah is a terrific way to get to know other Sinai Temple members who have similar interests. Members of a Chavurah can feel like an extended family for each other, particularly in East Central Illinois where so many here are without family. For information about forming or joining a Chavurah, contact Ann Sussman at ann325@gmail.com and fill out the Chavurah questionnaire.
