SINAI TEMPLE VOLUNTEER ROSTER
If you would like to help support Temple activities, but do not have enough time to join a Temple committee, then consider adding your name to the Temple Volunteer Roster.
Most tasks require only an hour or two. You will be phoned when a task comes up that matches your interests, skills, and time limitations. You are always free to decline if the request comes at an inconvenient time. To be added to the roster, call the Temple office at (217) 352-8140. You will be asked about the types of work you are willing to do (for example, stuffing envelopes or setting up chairs) and the days of the week and hours that you may be available.
One example of volunteering is to donate time once a month from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
STUDY CIRCLES
Study Circles is a national program that sponsors local discussion groups involving people of all ages and backgrounds. In 1998, Champaign began the program, focusing on race relations. Several members of Sinai Temple participated, but we need more Jewish members.
THANKSGIVING BASKETS
For the past few years, Sinai Temple has prepared Thanksgiving baskets that are delivered to families whose names are provided by the Family Preservation Service.
The Youth Group performs tzedakah by preparing the baskets, which include fresh food, non-perishable items, and frozen turkeys. Tzedaka from the Religious School, the Naomi Siegel Social Action Fund, and individuals pay for the food. Temple volunteers help deliver baskets.
