CROP WALK
Join the nationwide walk against world hunger. Money earned is used locally, nationally, and internationally. Last year, Sinai Temple had 27 walkers who gathered over $1,000 in donations.
FAMILY VISIT SUPERVISION
Supervise visits for parents who, by court order, see their children only with supervision. Your presence allows them to see one another on Christmas. You will receive specific training.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Build or renovate homes for hardworking poor people who cannot afford to buy homes the traditional way. Join the Temple's building crewno special skills are required. Habitat also needs volunteers to do fund-raising, publicity, and office work, to choose sites, and to help the families.

HIGH HOLY DAY HUNGER PROJECT
The High Holy Day Hunger Project is sponsored by the Social Action Committee and the Senior Youth Group. For nine consecutive years, Sinai Temple has participated in this international project. In September, 1999, Sinai Temple collected nearly one thousand pounds of food and $350 in cash, which was donated to the Eastern Illinois Food Bank.
Empty bags are distributed to congregants on Erev Rosh Hashanah. People return the bags, filled with non-perishable canned goods on Yom Kippur. Monetary donations also are welcome.
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. SCHOLARSHIP FUND
For a number of years, Sinai Temple has joined representatives from the University of Illinois, Parkland College, local governments, and churches to sponsor scholarships granted by The Martin Luther King, Jr. Advocacy for Justice Committee. Each year, this committee supports 34 scholarships, granting each recipient $2,000 per year for four years. Only African-American students with proven financial need and scholastic ability are considered and selected. A program honoring the scholarship recipients and celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday is held annually.
To contribute to this community mitzvah, make checks payable to M. L. King, Jr. Scholarship Fund, and send it to the Social Action Committee at Sinai Temple.
