Steinberg Scholar-in-Residence

Sinai Temple conducts a number of special events during the year. Some are fundraising in nature; others are social, educational, or religious. These events are made possible through the efforts of the members of Sinai Temple, and every member is encouraged to take an active part in the planning of these events.

LABOR OF LOVE

For a number of years, Sinai Temple members gather every Labor Day to clean and spruce up the temple—both inside and outside.

CONGREGATIONAL SEDER

Sinai Temple has conducted a seder on the second night of Pesach every Passover for many years. Held at the Temple, the seder is open to the Champaign-Urbana Jewish community. Rabbi Klein leads the service. Contact the Temple office for details.

GLASER MEMORIAL CONCERT

Sinai Temple sponsors the Glaser Memorial Concert series showcasing Jewish music, generally once every two to three years. This concert memorializes two longtime Temple members who had a particular love for Jewish music—Annette and Milton Glaser. A dedicated fund set up by the Glaser family, special donations solicited from the general membership, and a nominal admission charge provide most of the funding for these concerts.

STEINBERG SCHOLAR-IN-RESIDENCE

The Steinberg Scholar-in-Residence program periodically presents an intensive weekend of lectures and discussions on a subject determined by the area of expertise of the visiting scholar. It is funded by the Marvin Steinberg Memorial Fund.
